A little bit about me...

I hang my toothbrush in San Antonio and have for the past seven years but my claim to a hometown cannot be limited to one city. I was fortunate to have lived in many beautiful places such as Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where I spent five years of my childhood and in Germany where I lived for two and a half of my most impressionable years before I settled down in Texas. As a result of my experience living in Europe, travelling has become one of my favorite parts of life.
I wouldn't like to declare a major at this stage of college because I like to think that I am open to discover what I am best at and have a passion for. At the same time though, I realize that to set goals is important in being successful. Keeping that in mind, I am on the path toward education, taking the seminar in urban education and this technology course. In high school, I had the opportunity to do a year-long internship with a sophomore English teacher and to teach a mini-course for two weeks on a subject of my choice. I selected the topic of media bias within the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and had an excellent experience doing research, preparing curriculum, teaching, and assessing my students.
I am a Muslim Indian American. My parents both immigrated to the United States from Hyderabad, India. I have strong ties to my religion and culture and would like to not only maintain those ties, but also to share them with others on campus through acquaintance and through organizations such as Muslim Student Association and the Asian Subcontinental Association. I love to read, get involved in community activities, and spend time with family and friends.
I would say that I have average skills in using technology but I realize that average is not enough in the world today. As implied in the article "Time's Person of the Year: You," the advancement and evolution of technology challenges each one of us to become technologically proficient in order to use, benefit from, and to contribute to the rest of the world. I agree that each of us has more power and access to modify, expand, and respond to information on a public level. However, I also believe that if we fail to use this power in the right ways or if we neglect to use it at all, we will suffer the consequences.
I hope to refine and improve the knowledge I already have of technology as well as to expand my definition of basic technologies in order to make the best use of the programs in existence and to eliminate my dependence on my brothers to enable and guide my technology usage.

  1. Welcome, Sana. You have a interesting background and most positive outlook.

Your comment that, "that if we fail to use this power (to modify, expand, and respond to information on a public level) in the right ways or if we neglect to use it at all, we will suffer the consequences" is a very important insight.

  2. Hi Sana,

I can't believe you've been to Germany and Pennsylvania. I haven't been anywhere outside of San Antonio! What was it like?

  3. Yeah Sana!! Your blog rules. It really is scary that average technological knowledge is simply not enough, because I'm already behind, and catching up (then keeping up) will be quite the challenge. A challenge for ever and ever hahah it just never stops advancing!!! Anyway, see you around! bye bye
