There is such an enormous resource for Trinity students and faculty located in the first floor of the library. The Center for Learning and Technology is a well-equipped, well-staffed and easily accessible facility that is useful for a variety of purposes.
Though I have not seen and used the many components of the entire center yet, it is important to know what is available to me for my career at Trinity.
Upon entering, I found myself in the studio area of the CLT. This open portion of the center has multiple Windows and Macintosh computers set up along with "color and black-and-white laser printers, scanners, audio and video digitizing capability...and...multimedia authoring and editing software" (Jungman). The Studios @ CLT can be very helpful if I need to use any of these tools.
The Digital Audio Lab is a separate room for students and faculty to use when recording, digitizing and manipulating audio files for the purpose of integrating them in presentations and projects. This lab contains a synthesizer, hardware for digital audio importing and editing, audio sources with capability for digital and analog import and sound editing software. (Jungman) Although I would need significant assistance if I entered this lab, it is quite possible that I might need to use this facility.
The Media Presentation Lab, usually referred to as 101Q, is a space that can accommodate a maximum of fifteen people. With the equipment to project computer and video presentations, the lab is perfect for rehearsing before presentations or sharing information with a small group. The lab can be reserved through T-Space online. I need to keep this in mind because I have already been part of multiple group projects in my short time at Trinity and foresee this lab as an asset to future projects collaborative in nature.
The Video Conference Center, with a capacity of thirty-two people, has "satellite down-link and Polycom two-way video conference facilities" (Jungman). This room is ideal for collaboration with students or professors in other parts of the country or world. It can provide a valuable avenue for this communication. At this point it seems that this technology is beyond me and that I will not need it but you never know when it could become useful.
Finally, the Innovation Studio where we spent the majority of our time last class, is an area created as a training facility for applications such as T-Learn or multimedia software packages. This enclosed location is a comfortable place to learn about technology.
The CLT has staff that is willing and very knowledgeable about technology for aiding students and faculty in the center. Additionally, there are digital cameras and other types of mobile technology available for check-out from the help desk. Knowing that these resources are at my disposal can be very helpful when doing projects for classes.
